Connection Happens in the Emotions
The book Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott says, “Our business is a business of conversations; while no single conversation is guaranteed to change the trajectory of a career, a company, a relationship or a life, any single conversation can”. The power of words is easy to forget but whether conscious or unconscious the power exists. Our words only have power if people can connect with them emotionally. Often times we hear our emotions our bad, but it is where our passion comes from. People move when they are driven in their emotions. Our emotions are moved by passion, truth, and confidence. If our communication lacks passion, truth and confidence we will never have much influence. On the other hand if all three elements exist in our communication, our influence will be great!

Leading when the competition is Yourself.
Leading a group of people from one place to another is ALWAYS difficult, especially if they think they are already winning. Think about the movie “Seabiscuit”. When the trainer is preparing the jockey for the last race, he told him. On the last stretch, pull up, let Seabiscuit look into the eyes of the competition and then at the right moment let him run – he wants it, his fire comes alive when he’s running to beat rather than running to win. Notice, he had to see the eyes of his competition. So what happens when those eyes are your own? That’s when the fire has to change. The fire for being the best you can be and not just good enough to win the field. You lead that and you have mastered Leadership!!

The Magic is in the Middle
When I was in 4th grade I entered my first race. It was track and field day at my elementary school. I can remember waiting for the start of the race and looking at the finish line (which was probably only about 40 yards) with fierce intensity. Your mark, get set, go, I was off. I remember the feeling of going at something with everything I got. I did it, I won! That started my addiction to what I believed was winning. Winning as I defined then and how I have defined it until about 72 hours ago was all about the finish line, the end of the race. I just realized its’ really the middle I’m addicted to, the all-out part where purpose and direction are defining. This is the MAGIC , this is WHERE the race is won!

Who is Lou Holtz?
For the past 2 days Govig Senior Care has spent our lunch hour watching a speech Lou Holtz gave at a Harvey Mackay Round Table that our President Todd Govig had the pleasure of attending, the speech was very inspirational and motivating and I encourage all of you to find out a little more about Lou Holtz and what he has to say, it couldn’t hurt.
So here is a short video of Lou Holtz from You Tube
It is a fine thing to have ability, but the ability to discover ability in others is the true test.

Sales People Wear Masks
Customer service, networking, outgoing, energetic, these are all types of masks that sales people wear. How can you really tell if someone can sell? I wish I really knew the right answer to that question. With all the years I have been hiring sales people, I know more what a sales person isn’t than what they are. Top sales people are not quiet, they talk a lot! Top sales people are not arrogant, they are not shy, they have a confidence that is magnetic. They are not detail oriented, but speak about accomplishments and the passion they have for winning. Top sales people don’t hide, they are comfortable in their transparency and somehow they make you want to be transparent. Sales is more a way of being than it is purposeful doing. If you can eliminate what a salesperson isn’t you might just have one!

Pain Has A Name:
Be the labor big or small, do it well, or not at all! Hiring can produce A Superstar, A Game Changer or A Replacement of what you had. When a position comes open, we all have the opportunity to top-grade the Who. So why don’t we?………Because it’s hard. It requires change, time, and money. It is often times easier to live in the arms of mediocrity than looking in the mirror and raising the standard. But…..PAIN has a NAME and it never goes away without intentional effort and a specific strategy. Top talent is out there, are you willing to make the necessary investments to attract it and retain it? I AM!
Truth has a sound.

Change, What Is It?We recently had a sales meeting here at Govig Senior Care and the topic was Change. The purpose of the meeting was to generate awareness towards a contributing factor that compels a human being to make decisions that will implement some form of change in their lives, with a focus around employment. So what motivates an individual to want to change their current employment, what are some of the factors? Finances, growth, environment, location, opportunity are just a few factors that we came up with. Everyone has different reasons for wanting to make a change, different motivating factors that influence their decisions, our goal is to identify those reasons and assist a candidate in making a decision that is in their best interest. So if you have been needing to make a change with your current place of employment and are ready to move on we strongly encourage you to contact us today! |

Success can only be obtained in the NOW
I used to think NOW was only a reference to WHEN you did things. I NOW realize it’s a lifestyle. Being in the now means you don’t allow anything to steal your thoughts or your time. This is the true measure of discipline. The battle we all face always starts in our heads, once our thoughts are stolen, our time follows and then it leads to our identity and self-esteem. Success is the ability to live in congruency with both your WHO and your DO. The present only exists in the NOW. The only time you can do anything about is NOW. Now is easily wasted by reliving the past and day dreaming about the future. Guard your thoughts so they stay in the present, put all your daily actions into NOW and focus on what matters most and leave the rest alone. Taste and see success like you have never experienced before!
Now is Game ON!

2012 A Year of Multiplication
To multiply means to take action within a process that produces a condition of being multiplied. (free dictionary.com) We all know everyone has the same amount of time but how you choose to use it can be very different. Time can be multiplied when you say “NO” to distractions. Saying no can increase your capacity to say “YES”. Saying yes to the right things will multiply your time. Business and people are no different. WHAT you spend your time on and WHO you spend your time with can cause multiplication or subtraction.
The future is the consequence of the actions you are taking today. When you decide to take action today about what you want tomorrow, your future will be what you want. I encourage you to go to futureme.org. Email yourself in the future to help yourself with the NO’s.
2012 the year where NO = Yes!
Wishing you the best in the New Year,
